§ 180. Acceptance by candidate.

  • Any person whose name has been submitted for candidacy by any such petition shall file his or her acceptance of such candidacy, together with his or her affidavit to the effect that he or she is qualified to vote at such election, with the city clerk no later than the last day of qualification; otherwise his or her name shall not appear upon the ballot. In the event of a special election to fill a vacancy in the office of mayor or seat on the city commission, rather than a general election, any person whose name has been submitted for candidacy by any such petition shall file his or her acceptance of such candidacy, together with his or her affidavit to the effect that he or she is qualified to vote at such election, with the board of elections not later than the last day of qualification; otherwise his or her name shall not appear upon the ballot.
